BSK hosts ‘Poetry By Heart’ competition
February 19, 2018, 3:50 pm

The British School of Kuwait (BSK) hosted the 2018 Poetry by Heart competition where students from Reception to Year 8 from The English School (TES), New English School (NES) and The British School of Kuwait (BSK) each took part, reciting poems that they had memorized by heart.

The finalists had all won in their respective schools before making it to the finals at BSK. Whilst TES took the top honors, BSK and NES came a very good second, with all of the students performing exceptionally well, reciting complicated and mature poems with confidence, eloquence and style.

The age of the youngest, five years, certainly belied their ability to recite poetry. The event was very well attended by students, teachers and parents who all supported the performers. BSK was honored to host Dr. Lavinia Davenport, wife of the British Ambassador, as a special guest and chief judge of the event. All eyes turn to 2019 when the competition will be hosted by The English School, Salmiya.
