Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday is celebrated annually on 21 April at the Ambassador’s Residence of the British Embassy. With the attendance of H.E. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs,  guests included senior officials of the Diplomatic service, members of the armed forces, and people from a variety of areas of the business community to name but a few. In total some 650 guests wished Her Majesty a very happy 92nd birthday.

Hosted by The British Ambassador, His Excellency Michael Davenport MBE, the reception was made a very special one for The British School of Kuwait as their Chamber Choir was invited to open the evening’s celebrations by singing the National Anthems of both Kuwait and the United Kingdom.

Lead by Miss Liz Lomas and accompanied on the piano by Miss Lynne Jones, the choir sung beautifully in both Arabic and English. For the students of BSK, this was a wonderful experience and honour, made all the more enjoyable as they looked from the balcony of the Residence, towards the guests and out towards the Gulf of Arabia.
