BSK Brass Quintet perform at British Week
May 9, 2017, 12:22 pm

The British School of Kuwait (BSK) was honored to be invited to perform at the opening of the British Food Festival in LuLu Hypermarket at its Al Qurain and the Brass Quintet was chosen to represent the school.

The festival has a strong reputation for promoting high quality British food, some of which was especially imported for the event. Following the opening by Michael Holland, Acting Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy, the Brass Quintet marked the cutting of the ribbon with the British national anthem followed by a celebratory voluntary by 18th century English composer John Stanley. A calm and reflective piece from the Highlands of the Scotland followed. Many exciting pieces from around Great Britain completed the musical tour.

The Quintet is comprised of exciting performers: Cian Williams and Ethan Dick from the UK, Induwara Gedara from Sri Lanka and Ali Alobeidan from Kuwait. Completing the five required performers was BSK teacher Scott McBirnie on tuba. Following their musical tribute, the Quintet had the chance to join the official tour, and view the many specially built replicas of famous British landmarks including Big Ben and Tower Bridge and of course, sample some delicious British food.
