Blood Donors Kerala (BDK), Kuwait Chapter conducted a blood drive in coordination with Integrated Logistics Co. Kuwait and Central Blood Bank at Mina Abdullah on Friday, 10 March. BDK is one of the largest social media networks that is active in voluntary blood donation and related activities. It was formed in 2011 by Vinod Bhaskaran, a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employee. The organization is active all over Kerala, all metro cities in India as well as in all the Middle East countries.
Joseph Fernandez, Group Finance Controller, Integrated Logistics Co., inaugurated the drive by first donating blood. Central Blood Bank PR Secretary, Tareq Essa Algharabally and Medical officer Dr. Mohammad Jaber, showed their appreciation to the organizers, volunteers and donors for their efforts to maintain the stock in the Central Blood Bank. K. Jayakumar, President, Pathanamthitta Dist. Association, Kuwait, felicitated the event.
Muralee S. Panicker, President, BDK, Kuwait presided over the function and Reghubal Thengumthundil, Media Coordinator welcomed all guests, blood donors, members and others before Ranjith Raj, General Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
Special mementos were presented to the Blood Bank administration, its staff members, partnering firms and volunteers as a token of thanks and appreciation from the BDK Kuwait team. Around 125 donors turned-out to make it a remarkable event by voluntarily donating blood and showing their humanitarian spirit.
BDK expressed their thanks to all sponsors for their notable contribution and a Certificate of Appreciation had been presented to all donors acknowledging their participation and support to BDK’s noble cause.
BDK Kuwait Chapter’s 20 members including Biji Murali, Sarath Murali, Prasanth Koyilandi, Rajesh RJ, Yamuna Reghubal, Jaya Jayasree, Terrence Mathuppuram, Priya Terrance, Jithin Jose, Muneer PC, Nithin J. Alexander, K V Alexander, Vipin Vakkode, Mujeeb Rahman, Krishna Rao, Binil Kannan and Maneesh have dedicated themselves to volunteering camp activities.
BDK is planning to conduct more blood drives, awareness programs and data collections in the coming months in collaboration with other socio-cultural organizations and business establishments; under the Patronage of Central Blood Bank.
BDK Kuwait Chapter from May 2016, since its inception in Kuwait have donated around 250 units of blood to the Central Blood Bank through the blood drives and in response to emergency calls from the hospitals in Kuwait. Also, they have helped the other chapters of the fraternity to find donors for their cases by sharing the cases on the official pages, member’s fb walls as well as the WhatsApp groups. BDK Kuwait team has around 500 regular donors with various blood groups that are connected through WhatsApp groups and ready to donate anytime on call.
