The British Academy of Sport (BAS) organized another successful sports trip this time to Thessalonika and Zagori in Greece. A group of 20 students and 3 teachers enjoyed a fun filled adventure holiday as part of their term break. The trip was for 5 days in the Zagori region which is a beautiful mountain resort with many traditional villages, deep canyons, gorges and stunning stone bridges basking in the autumn sunlight and picture postcard views located very close to the Albanian border.
The students had a great time enjoying a wide range of challenging sports activities including white water rafting in the Vodiomatis, which is reputedly the cleanest river in Europe; horse riding, hiking, climbing, archery, bowling and many interactive games in the forest where they developed a lot of useful skills which tested their endurance and taught them the importance of teamwork.
BAS students also enjoyed visits to some of Greece’s unique tourist venues such as Ioannina City, the Bears’ Sanctuary in Nymfaio, the deepest canyon in Europe, the Techno Park and Olympic Museum based in Thessalonika.
At the Olympic Museum the group was invited to meet with the World & European Triathlon Champion, Mr. Christos Garefis, who gave a highly entertaining presentation to the children. BAS student, Ali Al Zaiyed, who is a member of Kuwait’s National Junior Swimming Team presented Mr Garefis with a gift from The British Academy of Sport.
The trip culminated with an Awards Evening where students participated in the “BAS Got Talent Show” and all received medals, certificates and souvenirs of this historic trip to Greece.
This amazing trip was organized in collaboration with Kanon Cultural Tours & Expeditions and was sponsored by ITL World Travel Management Company.
Following the success of the Sports Trip, BAS is planning the next trip to Ireland which will take place in the April term Break.
