BAS lauds achievements at Sport- Awards Evening 2018

British Academy of Sport (BAS) organized its fourth Awards Evening at BSK which saw the participation of more than 250 parents and students. The Head Coaches selected the best 85 students from almost 2000 who registered for the nine Sport Activities from September until today: Basketball, Football, Roller Skating, Gymnastics, Kick Boxing, Swimming, Tennis, Karate and Zumba. This evening was about the students and the skills and experiences they have developed at BAS and where they have learned how to be active and to be strong.

The students from each sport received the following awards: The Most Improved, The Best Technique and Coach Award.  

Apart from these categories, BAS offered two special Awards for the following students: Wasmiya Al Ashour who received the Global Traveler Award as she completed five international sports trip with BAS and the second award was the Special Achievement for Herny Anand, who won four medals (2 gold and 2 silver) for Kuwaiti Team at the International Ice Skating Competition in Abu Dhabi called 'Skate Emirates 2018'. Henry is an elite member at BAS since 2014 and he was awarded with trophies for Roller Skating and Tennis Activities over three consecutive years at the BAS Sports Awards.

BAS had this year very important achievements apart from the regular courses including  Two International Sports Trips where 40 students enjoyed over 20 sports activities. The first trip was in October to Ireland in Carlingford and the second trip was in April to Singapore.

Once again this year BAS is the only Academy who organized 3 International tournaments between the Embassies in Kuwait:

 In November, The Fourth Men’s International Basketball Tournament ''Challenge Cup' with the Romanian Embassy.

 In February in collaboration with the Greek Embassy was organized the 5th Men’s international Volleyball Tournament, the Independence Cup.

And In March together with the Serbian Embassy, BAS hosted the 3rd Women’s Volleyball Tournament, the Olympia Cup.

At these three important tournaments were 30 teams from 16 Embassies which totals almost 300 players who represented their countries and communities at BAS.

The other programs that BAS offer every year are the Summer Camps where more than 300 students enjoy the Swimming and the Sports Camp. This year BAS will run two Camps as well for 3 weeks: from Sunday, 17 June until 5 July, 2018.

Apart from this Awards Evening, BAS will host the 3rd edition of the Swimming GALA which will be on Saturday, 2  June where the advanced students will have Swimming Competitions and they will also receive their trophies and medals.

BAS continues to lead the way in Kuwait as the only Sports Academy offering more than 9 Sports Courses for children between 3-16 years old.

At this special evening, alongside BAS Director Lucian Anisia to give the awards to the students were Madame Vera Al Mutawa MBE, Romanian Ambassador H.E. Daniel Tanase, Palestinian Ambassador H.E. Rami Tahoub, Serbian Ambassador H.E. Vladimir Kohut and the Seniors Managers from BAS Sponsors Decathlon and Crowne Plaza Hotel.

At the end of the sports awards evening, BAS was delighted to have on the stage with the occasion of BSK Ruby Anniversary: La Camerata directed by Galina Bojilova who are the overall winners of Young Musician of the Gulf Competition.
