BAIA performs Swan Lake at Winter Wonderland event
January 28, 2018, 1:15 pm

The British Academy of International Arts (BAIA) delighted a captivated audience at the Al Hamra Winter Wonderland event with twenty dancers aged from six to eleven years, showcasing a number of ballet performances from the world famous ballet, Swan Lake.

With a stunning backdrop and beautiful costumes, the audience was transported from a Kuwait shopping mall to a high-class dance performance reminiscent of London or Moscow where BAIA’s Primary Ballet students aged six and seven years were first to take to the floor. With a spectacular performance of the Swan Lake Waltz, choreographed by Miss Heather Silvester, their spritely dance and bright smiles bought the dance to life. BAIA’s Junior Company Class, an auditioned class for young dancers, took to the stage to end the show with a moving performance of the Dying Swan from Swan Lake.

Claire Findlay, BAIA dance teacher said, "This wonderful event is but one in a long list of exciting performances that our students have the opportunity to take part in throughout the year. Term 2 culminates with our annual dance show, this year titled 'Musicality', at the American United School auditorium on 17 February, showcasing dances taken from the most famous and well-loved movies and musicals."

As well as dance classes, BAIA offer courses in theatre, speech, arts and crafts, with individual music tuition for a variety of instruments. BAIA courses lead to prestigious examinations with a number of UK examination boards; BBO, NATD and LAMDA.
