Awitan at Tawanan 3, a concert held at the Al Arabi Club on Friday night, 6 June, and organized by Alliance of Filipino Organizations in Kuwait turned out to be a huge success. Filipina song diva Vina Morales, comic duo Iya and Tekla, entertainment columnist Rey Pumaloy and remarkable front act performance of local singers and dancers were extraordinary treats to an almost filled auditorium.

Hosts of the Morning Talk Show Jane Nolasco, Leica De los Santos, Ian Concepcion and Willie Aguilar started with fun games and surprises prior to the front act. Students of the New Kuwait Philippine International School delivered a remarkable cultural performance followed by front act artists Jennifer Uy, Tanya Dawood, Bashaer, Mishal and KFMO Boy and Sheila Manota with dance groups Imabeast, Next Episode, Filipino Cultural Club and Zumba girls. Members of the Philippine and local media Maxxy Santiago, Ben Garcia and Ricky Laxa also delivered a short vocal rendition in prelude to the presentation of the cast.

Ambassador of the Philippines Lamberto Monsanto, Consul General Atty. Raul Dado and Labor Attaché Atty. Cesar Chavez received plaques of appreciation from Overall Chairperson of All-FilOK Dr. Chie Umandap. Major sponsors of the event Ooredoo, The Filipino Channel and OSN with Crown Plaza, Infinity Event Management Company, Isbre, Rawan Saloon, Kuwait Gulf Link Investment, Santinna Ladies Salon, Pag-Ibig and Tiktok were also presented with plaques. LBC and Cebu Pacific Airlines also sponsored segments of the event by giving prizes through games.

“The show was again a remarkable event organized by All-FilOK. We are so grateful to all those who made the show possible and a huge success. We extend our gratitude to the Philippine Embassy for their usual generosity in support of the project as well for our main sponsor Ooredoo. We hope to bring more artists in the future for our “Kababayans” in Kuwait.  We also thank the Kuwait government for their kind support,” said Dr. Umandap.

Among the highlights of the event were the question and answer segments of Rey Pumaloy and the audience where Pumaloy wittingly answered all showbiz queries about artists followed by two songs. Iya and Tekla gave a hilarious performance that bought roars of laughter from the crowd and finally, Vina Morales’ beautiful vocal number included 70’s disco music and themes songs from favorite Philippine soap operas. The crowd cheered endlessly as Morales sang each song. “I am so grateful to the organizers and TFC for making this concert possible and feel privileged for being here to perform for our kababayans (countrymen). Maraming Salamat po! (Thank you very much),” said Morales.

The hosts of the show also thanked the medical team from Dasman Center headed by Vangie Santos, Pinoy Snappers for the photos of the event, Master Mario Adonis of Catsclaw Martial Arts for providing remarkable security service to the artists and the venue. The hosts also invited everyone to watch the show on Friday June 13 in the same venue with Julie Anne San Jose and Gladys Guevarra of GMA 7 Nertwork.
