All women could use a little help looking more awake and refreshed, especially if she keeps a busy schedule. If you haven’t managed to get eight hours of shut eye, you can use makeup to brighten your eyes so you look like you have spent your weekend with cucumber slices on your lids. Just follow these eye opening makeup tips.
Line the inside of your eye: Rimming your eye with a light-reflecting eyeliner is a triple threat – it will add brightness to your eye, reduce redness and make them appear bigger. Try a cream coloured liner on the inside of the eye as it extends the white of the eye without being white and harsh, and the cream looks softer and more natural.
Curl those lashes: It’s an instant eye-widening fix, and if you have time to do only one thing to look more awake because you are running late, curl your lashes. Focus on the outside corner lashes to really lift the eye area.
Falsie it up: If you’re dead tired and really need some extra impact to make your eyes appear bigger, add in a set of false eyelashes. If you use a false lash, try one that has the longest length in the center of the eye. It looks very natural and widens your eyes. An added bonus: You can then skip mascara (and any smudging that comes with it) that could make you look even more tired.
Use highlighters: They instantly brighten and make your eyes look more awake. Start by applying a highlighter of your skin tone above and below the eye. You don’t need much though, just a touch. Then let it dry for a few seconds and blend with a soft brush.
Think neutral: If you plan to go with a heavily lined eye, dark colours and grey tones will only emphasize tired eyes. Instead a better choice is to opt for natural colors to really make your eyes appear bigger. Apricots, ivorys, browns, peaches and golds are very flattering in the daytime, especially under the brightness of the sun. To really enhance your eyes, try a hit of shimmer. Preferably, a kind that is tasteful like mineralized eyeshadows have a very subtle frost. Just apply in the center of the eye for a flash when you blink.
Eye cream: Aside from makeup, a plan of attack for gorgeously wide-awake eyes is a rich and reviving eye cream. Your eyes really are the windows to your wellbeing, which is why it’s so important to take good care of the delicate skin around your eyes. When cleansing or removing make-up, make sure you’re using a suitably sensitive product. And if those late nights are getting the better of you, regularly use a rich cream that targets dark circles and puffiness leaving tired peepers looking revived and refreshed. It is even better for your long days under the sun if you use eye cream that features SPF15 sun protection too.
