Illegal residents can take advantage of an amnesty announced today by Ministry of Interior and can leave Kuwait or rectify their status by paying fines without being blacklisted, Brigadier Adel Al-Hashash, Director of the ministry’s Relations and Security Media Department was quoted in by Al Rai today.
Brigadier Hashash said that the residency affairs departments around Kuwait were geared to receive violators and they would not face persecution if they voluntarily surrender to correct their status or pay their fines and leave the country.
However violators who are arrested will be forced to pay their fines before being deported and placed on the blacklist and will not be allowed to enter Kuwait again, Hashash stated.
The period has not yet been announced but it is expected to help tens of thousands to be able to rectify their status. The ministry of interior has begun a massive crackdown on illegals towards the end of last year and vowed to continue to arrest illegals citing them as a security threat to the country.
