Team formed to determine extend of damages: Sheikh Meshal
Ministry of Interior’s Assistant Undersecretary for Information Technology and Communications Sheikh Meshal Al-Jaber has announced that all main computer systems and subsystems in the security sectors are back in operation after the fire incident in the General Information Systems Department.
In a press statement, Sheikh Meshal disclosed the sector has formed an emergency team tasked to directly inspect the location to determine the extent of damages and lay down a mechanism for putting the systems back in operation as soon as possible.
This decision was based on the fact that the fire did not affect the data and the ability to ensure full recovery. He explained the action was made possible through direct monitoring of the situation by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al- Sabah and Undersecretary Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad.
Elaborating on the disconnection of the systems and electronic services offered by the ministry, Sheikh Meshal revealed the sector deliberately suspended the operation of all the systems as a precautionary measure to prevent further damages. He said the disconnection happened immediately after the fire accident. He affirmed all the information systems and data are covered by the precautionary protective regulations applied when the operations resume in order to guarantee protection, quality performance and full recovery of systems linking all information services for security sectors.
According to Sheikh Meshal, immediately after extinguishing the fire and removal of everything deemed dangerous to engines and systems; the working team resumed operation of transformers, generators, communication gadgets, main computers and accessories.
He stated the storage machines containing national data were put back into operation immediately. He reiterated the information system networks and machines were not affected. He lauded the technical operation teams affiliated to the Information Technology and Communications Sector for their high level of competency and expertise in handling the maintenance works while restoring the operation gradually and manually without causing damages to the data and systems.
