Kuwait on Sunday called for mobilizing efforts to counter changes and developments sweeping the Arab World, through a common Arab vision.

Hind Al-Sabeeh, Kuwait's Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and Minister of State for Economic Affairs, told the 44th session of the Arab Labor Conference (ALC) held in Cairo under patronage of President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, that these changes cast shadow over issues shouldered by the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), topped with unemployment.

Hence, the 44th ALC acquires significance since it is the top platform for the three parties involved in the production process, the employers, employees and the government, the minister, who presided the session, said.

Participants in the ALC are directly responsible for promoting the Arab production institutions, enforcing the criteria of quality and qualifying labor to be able to compete on the regional and international markets, she said.

Al-Sabeeh lauded the theme of the ALC's report for the year, namely "vocational training is the base for sustainable development strategies in the Arab World 2030."

The issue goes in harmony with a call to support systems of vocational training in Arab countries, as one of the chief projects of the Arab integrated program is to curb unemployment, was approved by the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, Kuwait 2009. The agenda of the 44th ALC comprises a host of topics of prime importance.

These are topped with two technical ones; entrepreneurship and its role in development and promoting employment, and bolstering women's role in the implementation of sustainable development programs, the minister said.

In the meantime, Al-Sabeeh called for further support to enhance the capabilities of the Palestinian labor market and economy, providing favorable conditions for establishing a Palestinian independent state with East Jerusalem as capital.
