Former National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Ali-Ghanim said on Sunday that he is thankful for an Amiri decree that dissolved parliament, as per Clause No. 103 of the Constitution.
In a statement to the press after relinquishing his post as Parliament Speaker, Al-Ghanim said that, "heading to the ballot box is genuine democratic practice," adding that "the Kuwaiti people will dictate who would represent them in this critical juncture."
Moreover, he thanked His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the government, wishing them every success.
Earlier on Sunday, citing mounting security challenges and volatile regional developments, His Highness the Amir ordered parliament dissolved, paving the way for early elections.
