ASSE Kuwait conducts technical meet

Continuing its untiring efforts towards professional excellence, American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait Chapter conducted its first technical meet for the year 2015-16 on 31 August, 2015 at Kohinoor Banquet Hall, Fahaheel, Kuwait. This technical meet was also chorographically the 199th one in total and was on the topic, 'Integration of Crisis and Emergency Management functions within Enterprise Risk Management'.

ASSE is a premier voluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety and Environmental organization, which strives to provide professional guidance, training and consultancy to the industrial and social sectors in the region, in the field of Health Safety and Environment. The Technical Meet kick-started with an opening speech by Jignesh Shah, ASSE Kuwait chapter secretary who briefed on the days agenda. This was followed by a warm welcome address by G. Sampath Reddy, Chapter President who emphasized on the importance of the topic. He also thanked the speaker and RIMSCO for its support to ASSE Kuwait chapter in particular during ASSE Professional Development conferences from 2011 onwards through sponsoring these conferences.
Mr. Sunil Sadanand, Head of Technical Events Committee welcomed the participants and introduced the speaker Mr. Bill Rhynd.

Mr. Rhynd is the Operations Manager at Risk Management & Security Consultancy Company (RIMSCO) with the responsibility for Training, Operations and Consultancy across all HSSE disciplines. Bill has over 20 years managerial experience in Security Operations, Training, Health and Safety in significant Infrastructure projects across both United Kingdom and Kuwait. Bill currently holds membership of the Security Institute, UK and is Technical Member and approved trainer with the Institute of Safety & Health (IOSH).

During his informative technical presentation Mr. Bill explained the overall purpose of emergency planning, crisis management, the phase of crisis and emergency management and Business continuity. He explained on the enterprise risk management (ERP), principle, framework and process. He described on various functions of risk management and its integration leading to ERP along with few case studies that proved the advantage of applying ERP in their organizations. There was an interactive question and answer session following the main presentation.

Babu V.S.V.R.A., Head of Training committee, presented the Training need survey results of ASSE Kuwait chapter and briefed about the scheduled upcoming trainings and programs of the chapter. Dinesh Kumar Dutta, Vice President of ASSE Kuwait thanked the speaker and all the attendees for their active participation. As a token of appreciation from ASSE, Chapter Executive committee presented a memento to the speaker.
