American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait Chapter is a premier voluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety and Environmental organization, which strives to provide professional guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and social sectors in the region. ASSE Kuwait Chapter conducted the Annual General Body Meeting for the year 2014-15 on 28 June 2015 at Safir Hotel, Fintas.
The meeting was attended by more than 100 members of the Chapter. Prior to the meeting, different committees of the chapter displayed their booths on the activities carried out by their team in their tenure and quiz competitions were held and members were rewarded with gifts for the correct answers.
The meeting started with a safety moment on a theme Recycle starts and ends with you. Dinesh Dutta Acting Secretary and the Treasurer gave the welcome the address and initiated the proceedings. Fadel Al Ali Chairman of the ASSE Kuwait Chapter in his speech extolled the activities performed by the office bearers of 2104-15 under the leadership of the President Mohamed Riaz Shereef and wished successful year for the next team for new term.
Mohamed Riaz Shereef, President ASSE KC, in his presidential address briefed about the major achievement of the Chapter for the year 2014-15. He highlighted that the chapter was able to provide more than 2000 professional development man-hours to the chapter stake holders in terms of training, technical meets, campaign etc. He told this was achieved with the unconditional voluntary support of the ASSE Executive committee members. In this regard, he conveyed his appreciation to all the Executive committee members and the chapter members.
Dinesh Dutta Acting Secretary and the Treasurer presented the financial report for the chapter with the revenue and expenditure for the year 2014-15. Further, Mr. Dutta gave a detailed presentation on the activities of the various committees were presented to the members. As a token of gratitude for the efforts during the year, the elected core committee members, various committee heads and the subcommittee members were given mementos and letter of appreciation by the Chairman. In between the presentation, interactive quiz was conducted and the winners were rewarded.
In addition on the occasion of Kuwait chapter completing 15 years of Journey since its inception in June 15, 2000, all the past presidents were remembered for their service and were felicitated with Mementos. Ashok Garlapati. Chapter Advisory Committee member was felicitated for achieving the “Safety Professional of the Year 2015 by International Practice Specialty of ASSE on 9 June 2015 at Dallas, USA during SAFETY 2015 Conference & Exposition and RamaKrishuna Chary, former chapter secretary, also was felicitated for the achievement of Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) Award under Environmental Practice Specialty.
Sampath Reddy, Vice President ASSE Kuwait Chapter, for the year 2014-15 and the President elected for year 2015-16 introduced the elected members for the year 2015-16, along with the nominated head of committees and their deputies. In the closing ceremony, Sampath Reddy thanked all the members for their participation and wished the new team a successful year ahead.
