American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait Chapter, a voluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety and Environmental organization which strives to provide professional guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and social sectors of the region conducted its Annual General Body Meeting on 21 June at Hotel Safir, Fintas.
More than 130 members of the Chapter attended the meeting. Prior to the meeting, different committees of the chapter displayed their booths on the activities carried out by their team in their tenure and quiz competitions were held and members were rewarded with gifts. In addition, Shauiba Industrial Medical Centre (SIMC) conducted a Health check-up for the members. During this check-up, tests like BMI, Glucose level, BP and Lung function were conducted.
Fadel Al Ali, Chairman of the ASSE Kuwait Chapter in his opening speech extolled the activities performed by the office bearers of 2015-16 under the leadership of the President G. Sampath Reddy and wished successful year for the next team for new term.
Mr. Reddy in his presidential address highlighted the achievement by the chapter to conduct two major events HSSE Professional Development Conference and GCC HSE Excellence award in one-year term.
He mentioned that all the chapter programs were focused towards chapter objectives like professional development of the members, chapter growth and protecting people, property and environment in the region.
He stated that chapter was able to implement all its planned activities successfully only with the unconditional voluntary support of the ASSE Executive committee members.
He conveyed his appreciation to the chapter Elected members, Executive Committee, Advisory Committee, Advisory Board, Chairman, sponsors, ASSE US president, Global region Vice President and the chapter members for the efforts, support and encouragement for all the activities during the year.
He also conveyed gratitude to CEO’s and HSE Leaders of various state owned and private sector organizations and Governmental agencies of the State of Kuwait. He declared that the chapter year 2015-16 will be remembered and as one of the successful year in the chapter history.
Jignesh shah, Chapter Secretary, appreciated the efforts of the Committees. He stated that during this chapter term many new initiatives were taken and gave the brief summary of the activities conducted during the year in brief by highlighting the major activities, achievements and awards received during the term.
The Chief Guest for the program Mr. Ali Al Kshawe, Manager (HSE) of Kuwait National Petroleum Company applauded the Kuwait Chapter activities and assured KNPC’s support towards chapter activities.
The Heads of the chapter committees Velichetty Babu (Training Committee), Sunil Sadanand (Technical Events Committee), Dr. Shaikha Al Fajjam (WISE Committee), Mohammed Alamgir (Environment & Health Committee), Sony Thomas (Publication Committee), Safdar Ali Khan (Outreach Committee), Ramu Muvvala (Membership Retention), Jhaid Thakor (Membership Drive), Ashok Lenka (Strategic Planning) and Najet Al Ghareeb (Student and Government Affairs Committee) presented in brief on their respective committees annual activities.
Sanjay Jaiswal, Chapter Treasurer presented the financial report for the chapter with the revenue and expenditure for the year 2015-16.
As a token of gratitude for the efforts during the year, the chapter Chairman, Fadhel Al-Ali presented the elected core committee members, committee heads, subcommittee members and Advisory Committee members with mementos and letter of appreciation.
In addition, the Executive committee also recognized the members who have completed 15 years and 10 years membership with ASSE Kuwait logo lapel pins for their continuous support to the chapter.
Muhammad Alamgir, Elected Vice President of ASSE Kuwait Chapter for the year 2016-17 introduced the elected members for the year 2016-17, along with the nominated head of committees and Advisory Committee Members.
In the closing ceremony, Dinesh Dutta, Chapter Vice President thanked all the members for their participation and wished the new team a successful year ahead.
