Kuwait Cricket added another feather to their cap by hosting Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) Level II umpiring course, a 5 day program designed by ACC to raise the standard of umpiring skills and to provide more exposure to the aspiring umpires from 7 various non-test playing nations of Asian region.
The course is being conducted by senior ACC Umpiring Resource personnel Mr. Syed Mehaboob Shah, Mr. BomiJamula &Performance Manager Peter Manuel and assisted Mr. RiazChoudhary, Director Umpiring panel,Kuwait.
As most of the non-test playing countries are playing cricket at an increasingly higher level, with more intense and meaningful competition, proper standards and disciplines have to be observed on and off the field and hence, this course will be a ladder for each participants to enhance their knowledge of the game and to look forward for an opportunity to officiate matches at a higher level.
Apart from Representatives to the likes of Afghanistan, Qatar, Oman, UAE, Iran, Saudi Arabia, host country Kuwait will be proud to have a Kuwaiti, Tariq Beidas,attending this course and would be aiming to be recognized as level II umpire.
Kuwait Cricket with open arms to promote cricket at all levels also has two lady Level I umpires attending the course. The umpires had been selected on the basis of performance at elementary courses held earlier.The candidates who show improvement and commitment in this course will move up to an elevated level later.
