6th IBA mega basketball tournament highlights great sportsmanship

The 6th mega IBA Basketball Tournament 2018 for the ‘Sulaiman Kalandar Al Kandheri Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy for Champion School, Instituted by Thomas Chandy, Chairman of United Indian School (UIS) was held at UIS from 12 to 20 April. The event, conducted by the Indian Basketball Association (IBA) was open for school students and also included an open tournament for men and women categories.

The tournament was officially declared open by Mr. Chandy along with an array of dignitaries: Adv. John Thomas - Admin Manager United Indian School, Pradeep Kumar - Managing Director Precon Engineering Company, C V Sunny - Head Coach, Indian Senior National Team, Ajith Kumar - beloved Principal United Indian School, Cherian Thomas - Principal United Indian School, Joseph Thomas - Vice Principal United Indian School and Dr Shinoj.

The tournament was conducted for eight long days; each day witnessed an array of spectacular matches for the school. The categories for the competition included Under 10,12,14,16 and 19 respectively.  The open men and women category matches were wholeheartedly applauded by the onlookers. The strong and unstinting medical assistance provided by the METRO MEDICAL CARE 24x7 was worth commendable.

The closing ceremony was graced with the presence of an array of eminent personalities Joel Jacob - Admin In charge Oceanic Trading Company, Tessy Joel - Vice Chairperson United Indian School, Faisal Hamsa - Business Development Manager Metro Medical Care, Pradeep Managing - Director Precon Engineering Company, Sreeja Pradeep - Manager Partner Precon Engineering Company, C .V Sunny - Head Coach Indian National Team, Ajith Kumar - Principal United Indian School, Saji John - Finance Controller United Indian School and Divya Susan - Director Nexis International. The event also saw the release of IBA’s maiden edition of ‘TRIFECTA magazine. 

The prize distribution ceremony was the added attraction of the day where the winners were acknowledged for their accomplishments.

D K Dileep - General Secretary, IBA welcomed everyone showcasing the myriad activities and the vision and mission of IBA Association where basketball takes on the lead, during the closing ceremony. Koshi Abraham - Patron IBA presided over the function, Siby Kurian - Vice President, Anoop John - Treasurer, Usha Dileep - PRO cum Editor and Sojan Sebastian - Coordinator IBA, coordinated the complete tournament and ceremony.
