Director General of the General Information Systems Department in the Interior Ministry Brigadier General Ali Al-Muaily disclosed a total of 65 new version of e-passports will be delivered by the end of this month.
Al-Muaily revealed the 65 e-passports will be given to political leaders and members of the government who will review the new version, adding that about 60,000 e-passports will be delivered in mid-August to start the distribution in mid-September.
He added the ministry is currently working on a project for the renewal of driving licenses and passports of citizens, as well as the residency permits of expatriates, electronically through the ministry’s website.
He said the expatriates shall pay the fees and check with the relevant departments to put the sticker on the passport, stressing that this project will see the light soon, adding that fees and fines shall be paid through K-Net.
