32 percent workers low-qualified

Thirty-two percent of the total Kuwaiti workforce holds low-level education qualifications, said government sources.

The number of those holding low level qualifications in the national work force has risen to 31.8 percent, especially in the private and military sectors, the sources added. “While education is compulsory in the country, some government and military sectors is still accepting low education level holders since the constitution guarantees a job for every citizen,” the sources explained.

According to official statistics, the total number of the Kuwaiti workforce is 396,410; 125,916 of which or 32 percent hold low-level certificates.

They work in the government, private and also military sectors. The number of low education qualifications in the government is relatively low, yet the 31.8 percentage increase came from employees in the private and military sectors, the sources said.
