17 held, over 2,000 cars, bikes seized in a major crackdown

The General Traffic Department conducted series of security campaigns in all six governorates and registered 38,870 traffic citations, impounded 2,099 vehicles plus 54 motorbikes and detained 17 motorists, and also executed 27 service orders, says an Interior Ministry press release.

As per statistics, officers from the Capital governorate issued 8,308 citations, impounded 381 vehicles, and arrested one motorist. In Farwaniya, the officers issued 5,796 traffic violations and seized 191 vehicles. Traffic men in Hawalli registered 8,685 traffic citations, impounded 471 vehicles and arrested 2 motorists, while officers in Ahmadi registered 2,882 violations, towed 170 vehicles to the garages, and detained one motorist.

Also, 1,851 citations were recorded in Mubarak Al-Kabeer where officers seized 283 vehicles, and in Jahra, they issued 3,443 violations, impounded 135 vehicles, and arrested one motorist. Meanwhile, the Operations Room of the General Traffic Department recorded 2,705 violations, impounded 180 vehicles plus 54 motorcycles, and detained 12 motorists. Special team of the sector also issued 5,200 citations and towed 288 vehicles to the garages of the traffic department.
