The Public Prosecution Department launched a surprise security campaign against vice in Hawalli governorate and checked the documents of 3,437 individuals.
The operation was headed by Assistant Undersecretary for public Security Affairs in the Ministry of Interor Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali and the Director General of Hawalli Security Directorate Major General Shahab Al-Shammari.
An Interior Ministry press statement indicated 1,068 of the 3,437 people checked have since been referred to deportation and other relevant authorities; 68 individuals were involved in residency law violators and 39 for criminal and civil offenses, 413 people were without personal identification documents, 311 marginal workers, 39 people were involved in immoral activities, 18 were involved in possession of drugs and 14 under the influence of liquor.
Also, 6 people were arrested for theft and 5 others for illegal entry into the country, with 130 absconders and 11 people wanted by law. They impounded 5 vehicles and recovered 10 missing vehicles. Subsequently, 2,369 people were released after convincing security men about the validity of their documents.
Statement added the campaign will continue over an indeterminate period to rid the governorate outlaws.
