Visas suspended for some Africa nations in Ebola fear

Director of Public Relations Department and Acting Director of Security Media Department at Ministry of Interior Major General Adel Al-Hashash announced the temporary suspension of visas to those coming from countries with high rate of Ebola infection such as Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

In response to the article titled ‘Health to Interior: Stop visas for nationals of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone’ that was published in Al-Watan Arabic daily on August 8, 2014, Major General Al-Hashash said the Citizenship and Passport Affairs Department revealed that the Undersecretary of Ministry of Health received information about the emergence of Ebola virus in many East African countries where a high mortality rate of 90 percent has been observed. He indicated the lack of necessary vaccinations or medical treatments in Kuwait so far, as well as the lack of medical examination centers for workers in those countries who are planning to travel to Kuwait.

Major General Al-Hashash affirmed, “Decision 3/2014 has hence been issued to temporarily suspend the issuance of visas to people from the countries with high rate of Ebola infections such as Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria”.
