iflix chases new subscribers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain; sets up new regional HQ in Dubai

iflix, the subscription video on demand (SVoD) service for emerging markets, has announces its launch in three Gulf markets as part of an expansion in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The company said it has set up a new regional headquarters for its MENA-based operations in Dubai.

Consumers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain can now sign up for a 30-day free trial, giving them unlimited access to thousands of TV shows and movies, a statement said.

Markets in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt and Sudan have also been entered, one month after the company’s launch in Myanmar, its tenth market in Asia.

iflix said over 6 billion minutes has been streamed across 10 countries since first launching in Malaysia and the Philippines in mid-2015.

Each iflix subscription includes unlimited access to thousands of first-run exclusive shows, award-winning TV series, blockbuster movies, popular local and regional Arabic and Asian content.

It also allows access on up to 5 devices at once, including phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, TVs and other connected devices.

iflix Group co-founder and CEO, Mark Britt, said: “Our launch in the Middle East and North Africa represents the incredible vision, hard work and sacrifice by everyone in the iflix team.

"MENA is one of the fastest growing and most exciting online markets in the world with data savvy consumers who share a passion for entertainment.”
