(Update) 4 dead after strong earthquake hits Pakistan

At least four people were killed and scores injured on Monday in northeastern Pakistan when a strong earthquake hit neighbouring Afghanistan, Pakistani health officials and police said.

The earthquake, measuring 7.7 magnitude, struck in northeastern Afghanistan, the US Geological Survey said, sending tremors that were felt in India and Pakistan.

The quake was 196km deep and centred 82km southeast of Feyzabad in a remote area of Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountain range. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
