In an incident that brought back the sad memory of fatal fights in shopping malls across the country, a 16-year-old-boy, identified as A.Sh., was stabbed to death and his friend sustained severe injuries during a violent public brawl that pitted the victims against a group of youths inside 360 Mall in South Surra because one of the boys stared at another. When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received a distress call about the fight, security men and paramedics rushed to the scene of the incident.
Paramedics rushed both victims to Mubarak Hospital for emergency attention, but one of the victims died of severe lung injury before reaching the hospital. His corpse was referred to the Forensics Department. The other victim, who had sustained injuries on his back, received immediate medical attention and his condition is now stable. The police tightened security at the hospital to avoid backlash. Detectives from Hawally Security Command have started viewing the records of the surveillance cameras in the mall.
Meanwhile, security officers were able to identify the suspect, a Kuwaiti ex-convict and an inmate at a welfare home. The information was gathered when his friends — a Kuwaiti, an Iranian and a Bedoun — who were involved in the fight were arrested.
