The parliamentary Interior and Defense Committee has approved a draft law on the installation of surveillance cameras in public places to guarantee public safety and prevent crimes. Committee Chairman MP Abdullah Al- Mayouf told reporters the surveillance cameras will not be installed in private areas like bedrooms, dressing rooms, health clubs for women and accommodations. He affirmed the bill is not aimed at violating people’s right to privacy as the objective is to improve security measures and prevent crimes or terrorist operations.
