Officers from General Department for Residency Investigations discovered 25 closed and fake companies with 203 expatriates under their sponsorship, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at Ministry of Interior explained that officers from the Investigation Department launched an intensive campaign on companies in Farwaniya and Ahmadi governorates during which they discovered 25 closed and fake companies with 203 laborers that are registered under their sponsorship but not working in these companies.

The investigation department of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor was requested to take necessary legal action against these companies. The General Department of Public Relations and Security Media affirmed that such sudden campaigns will be launched by the concerned authorities to arrest violators of residency and labor laws, close down fake companies and take legal actions against absconding workers.

Company fined: The Civil Circuit of the Misdemeanor Court has ordered a general trading and contracting company to pay compensation of KD 26,000, which is the cost of a villa in Georgia, and KD 5,000 for moral damages to a Kuwaiti woman, says Al-Seyassah.

The company alleged that the contract signed between the two parties for selling and investing in the residential sector of Georgia stipulates that the second party was to receive the unit at a specified date. In the event of renouncement after signing the contract, the first party had the right to do what is suitable with the unit without the objection of the second party.

The contract also stated that the first party has the right to keep 30 percent of the contract value for the damages incurred by the renouncement, to which the second party should not object. The counsel to the Kuwaiti woman Lawyer Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan called for the dismissal of the case and annulment of the contract. He demanded that the money paid by his client should be returned for the losses due to her not proceeding with the contrac.
