Officers from Public Security Sector arrested 1,070 expatriates including violators of residency law and those reported as absconding during security campaigns organized throughout last week based on instructions from Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali.
According to security sources, the officers set up 335 security checkpoints throughout the week where they arrested 28 individuals wanted for criminal cases, 39 individuals wanted for financial cases and 1,070 violators of Labor Law and Residency Law. They also seized 25 stolen vehicles and 84 vehicles that were used for reckless driving and stunts. The officers arrested 36 individuals in possession of drugs and handled 1,215 traffic accidents.
7 deported: Officers from General Traffic Department arrested 57 traffic violators, deported 7 expatriates for driving without drivers’ licenses, discovered a stolen vehicle and seized 1,715 vehicles that committed traffic violations during security campaigns launched in all six governorates from July 5-11. In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the department affirmed that it will continue to hold such campaigns in all governorates to arrest the violators and protect the lives of road users. It urged the road users to respect the traffic rules and refrain from committing violations in order to avoid accidents and protect their lives and the lives of other road users
