The Ministry of Health (MoH) said on Sunday that 2,025 people have undergone screening for possible colon cancer over the past nine months, of them 32 were confirmed to have the disease.
Dr. Wafa Al-Hashash, Director of the Digestive and Liver Unit at Al-Sabah Medical Area, said in a statement the tests were part of the MoH 'No to Colon Cancer' campaign and aimed at early detection of this kind of cancer.
She said that a large number of citizens and expatriates participated in the campaign due to their awareness and understanding of the extreme importance of the test. Al-Hashash said the campaign ended after it had accomplished its objectives.
She emphasized that an early test was the only way to discover tumors, which had the potential to lead to cancer if they were removed at the early stages.
