Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Omair have commended the administrators of the Central System for the Remedy of Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) for providing a decent living for illegal residents in Kuwait.

Minister Al-Omair made his remarks Wednesday at the Parliament's supplementary session, during which a two-hour discussion was held to review the status of illegal residents in the country.

"It is a thorny issue," Al-Omair said, noting that the Kuwaiti citizenship has not been awarded to those eligible for it, while others have been considered among the eligible after they have submitted their documents and passports.

However, there are actually some individuals among those eligible whose names have been submitted to the Cabinet for further investigations and studies, he said, adding that CSRSIR will continue to provide care for those who have adjusted their statuses and showed their original citizenships, including health care and education, in addition to facilitating their procedures regarding their personal documents such as birth and death certificates.
