IIT-IIM Alumni Association organizes fun get-together

IIT-IIM Alumni Association, Kuwait, celebrated their annual get- together in a grand style on 5 February, 2016 at a Desert Camp in Wafra, attended by a large gathering of enthusiastic members and their families along with their invited guests.

The day was perfect for socializing and frolic that included mental games and outdoor sporting activities. The event began with a breakfast arranged at the venue for families to have some time to intermingle.

Then,  the Annual General Body meeting was conducted with General Secretary Sanjay Fuller, presenting a summary of all the exciting events and programs conducted by the Association in the past year. IIT-IIM Alumni Association President Peeyush Jain welcomed all those who attended the get-together including the family of the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Sunil Jain and Dr. Gargi Jain. He thanked all the hardworking core committee members and promised that with the active support of the members the association can scale up the level and the number of exciting events. The Treasurer Suresh Choksi provided the Statements of Accounts.

A range of activities were organized for all members at the function. While the men displayed their skills in vintage volleyball, children enjoyed the sporting facilities available at the camp in their own carefree mode, away from parents. Professional event managers, Donna and Edwin accompanied by a DJ managed the show and involved all present in interesting games .

Bollywood quiz, impromptu dancing, out of the box unexpected spot questions, Ball in the Bin, and some other innovative games were arranged for kids, women and men to keep the enthusiasm high throughout the get-together. Couples participated in Know Your Spouse game amid supersonic cacophony. The Core Committee organized the Games as per the well-planned schedule with a large number of prizes open to participants. In between the games, members interacted with each other and engaged in a friendly fashion. Several new members and guests also socialized with great interest to acquaint themselves and to be a part of this friendly elite get-together.

The Indian Ambassador Mr. Jain, addressed the gathering and congratulated the organizers and the winners. He added that he thoroughly enjoyed participating in the get-together and wished a grand success in all the association's future events.

The members settled for a grand finale of a game of Tambola or lotto, after a sumptuous lunch from M/s Dawat, Mahboula. Hot Dosas, Makki Ki Roti with sarson ka saag, biryani etc. satiated the taste buds of everyone. There was a special dish for all types of needs – Veg, Non-Veg and others. All the winners were congratulated and they eagerly received the prizes distributed by the Senior Members present. Most of the members present went home happily with at least one gift.

IIT-IIM Alumni Association, Kuwait is growing day by day with the full commitment and dedication of all the members and the Core Committee. This event was a great success as a large number of members displayed an abundance of energy and enthusiasm. Finally, the event ended with a group photo session, captured by Bal Mukund, (Alumnus from IIT Delhi and IIM Lucknow) who was the coordinator  of the event followed by a series of draws in the lucky dip session. Many winners were pleased with their gifts due to the good work by Yogesh Rathod, who took the responsibility of arranging gifts.
