The opening ceremony of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village kick-started on Saturday under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The event was mainly attended by Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah who was received by Advisor at the Amiri Diwan and General Supervisor of the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village Mohammad Daifallah Sherar.

In a keynote speech, Sherar said the village had been established upon the directives of His Highness the Amir, appreciating the support of the GCC member countries for this heritage facility.

He thanked His Highness the Amir for ordering the village to be reflective of all the GCC sons' amity and belonging, saying they share traditional and historical commonalities.

He also voiced thanks and gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful establishment of this village, especially the GCC countries which have set up impressive pavilions there, along with artists, craftsmen, salesmen and workers.

The general supervisor further highly commended the supervisory committee of the village, who actually want nothing but only to serve their nation.

On the project, he elaborated that the village covers more than 25 kilometers and encompasses six separate GCC pavilions, a function hall, 11,000-meter lake, a bazaar, palaces, traditionally-designed gates, restaurants, cafes, sports fields, family tents, gardens and a mosque.

He boasted the village as an eye-catching national traditional facility, which is named after His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The sponsors of the opening ceremony of the project were then honored.
