Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI), which was established by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), celebrated the recognition of Dasman Diabetes Institute’s second award accredited by Accreditation Canada International: Platinum Level. The journey with Accreditation Canada International (ACI) has been a developing series since its initiation in 2010. With much hard work and commitment, DDI was able to achieve their first Gold Accreditation in 2013. Today, with much persistence and devotion, the Institute is now celebrating its well-deserved second achievement of receiving the Platinum Level.

On this occasion, DDI recently organized an event to celebrate this achievement at the Institute.  H. E. the Ambassador of Canada to Kuwait, Martine Moreau, Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, DDI, Dr. Qais Al-Duwairi, Director-General, DDI, and Dr. Dalia Badawi, Acting Chief Operating Officer and Director of the Accreditation Program at DDI attended amongst many other guests the event.

Receiving this accreditation will allow the Institute to continue moving forward in the right direction towards achieving a healthier environment for the country. DDI is focused on its holistic approach of integrating all the different aspects of promoting health awareness, offering educational programs, and providing training opportunities for both healthcare professionals and the public in general. DDI is keen on spreading awareness throughout the country in order to decrease the prevalence of diabetes in Kuwait. Ensuring the health status of the people is an important task the Institute tackles. DDI aims to nurture future generations by educating and leading them towards a healthier lifestyle. This stems from the Institute’s mission:

“To prevent, control and mitigate the impact of diabetes and related conditions in Kuwait through effective programs of research, training, education, and health promotion and thereby improve quality of life in the population."

All of this has been done in order to try and educate the people to the best of their ability and to the maximum of their capacity. The Institute aims to exercise all possible measures to try, preventing and tackling the rise in the diabetes epidemic in Kuwait.

For this, the institute aims to foster the international collaboration between Accreditation Canada International and Dasman Diabetes Institute to improve the health of the people of Kuwait, and ensure all the correct guidelines and criteria are met. This can be accomplished with the support and cooperation of reputable international organizations such as ACI that continue to take the Institute to even higher standards.

DDI takes pride in achieving this award as it increases the Institute’s credibility, making it a center of excellence that leads by example.
