The parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee has completed its report on Filipino workers in preparation for discussion and voting in the session slated for Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters after the committee meeting Sunday, Committee Rapporteur MP Mohammed Al-Huwailah stressed the need for everyone to look into the latest developments regarding domestic workers of all nationalities, especially the Filipinos, to protect the image of Kuwait.

Meanwhile, the Public Utilities Committee approved the proposal to establish crisis and disaster management centers during its meeting Sunday with representatives of the Interior Ministry in attendance. Committee Rapporteur MP Majed Al-Mutairi confirmed that the ministry agreed on the establishment of crisis and disaster management centers in Jahra, Mubarak Al-Kabir, Farwaniya and Hawally governorates. He explained these centers will work in coordination with the Ministries of Interior and Defense, as well as Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) and National Guard.

In another development, Al-Mutairi said the Municipal Council election will most likely be held before June 4, 2018 as the committee gave the government four months to hold the election. He disclosed the Municipal Council election schedule will be in line with that of the National Assembly election in 2017 including areas which did not participate in the previous council’s election like Sabah Al-Nasser, Jaber Al-Ali and Nahdha among others. He clarified the distribution of new areas will be based on the social structure in each constituency.

Moreover, MP Riyadh Al-Adsani announced that he and MP Adel Al-Damkhi will submit a grilling request against State Minister for National Affairs Adel Al-Kharafito the Parliament Office on Monday. Al-Adsani said the interpellation will focus on violations related to the minister’s powers as per Decree No. 53/1998.
