A large quantity of weapons, explosives and ammunition was discovered inside a dumpster in an open yard in Gharnata area. According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, when the ministry received information from an employee of Kuwait Municipality that he found some weapons, explosives and ammunition inside a dumpster in Gharnata area, police officers rushed to the location and secured it. Bomb squad was summoned to the location along with the forensic experts and they analyzed the weaponry to determine their types.
The items found in the dumpster were 19 RPG-7 40mm, 7 wooden boxes and 3 iron boxes of ammunition, 3 RPG launchers, a lance, 9 rounds of special weapon, 4 handguns, 16 RPG charges, 7 stocks of assault rifles, Heckler and Kock MP5 submachine gun, 2 wooden boxes containing 20 hand grenades and other 3 types of hand grenades — 7 RPG D5, 43 P86 and 111 F4.
Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali, Director of Capital Security Command Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah and his deputy Nasser Al-Adwani, Director General of General Department for Criminal Evidences Brigadier Hammad Al-Enezi, Central Area Police Commander Lieutenant Colonel Fahad Al-Humaidhi were present at the location along with several officers from the Bomb Squad Division. Investigations have been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the presence of such large quantity of weapons, explosives and ammunition in the dumpster.
