â€˜150 firms not at the registered locationsâ€™
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Planning and Development Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh disclosed that the ministry has discovered 150 companies and establishments that were not at the registered locations of their businesses, and whose workers have become marginal in the labor market. She revealed that the ministry had previously announced the discovery of 60 such companies.
The minister declared that the Public Authority for Manpower has been taking necessary steps against these companies and establishments based on the provisions of Paragraph 2 of Article 10 of Law 6/2010.
She affirmed that the authority will refer those companies and establishments to the General Department for Investigations for appropriate action.
She revealed that the authority has already granted grace period from June 1 to Aug 1 for workers whose residencies are under such companies, in order for them to confirm the status of their employers and consequently modify their own status.
Al-Sabeeh pledged that the ministry will publish the list of these companies in order to assist the employees in determining their fates.
