‘Probe’ on as two die after receiving diseased kidneys
April 13, 2015, 10:55 am

The undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Khalid Al-Sahlawi has formed a commission of inquiry to investigate the case of an unidentified Indian kidney donor to the Hamad Al-Essa Center for Organ Transplant, reports a local daily.

The daily added, the Indian pledged his kidneys to the center and after the organs were transplanted two recipients of the kidneys died because the donor was reportedly suffering from rabies. Al-Sahlawi has said the commission report will be made public in full transparency.

In other news, Al-Sahlawi has disclosed the ‘operation theatres’ of the Amiri Hospital will resume work soon. He pointed out the operation theaters were ‘shut’ as a precautionary measure following a fault in one of the air-conditioning units in one of the operation rooms.

The measure was precautionary. Al-Sahlawi explained the fault occurred in the airconditioning unit on Wednesday evening and that the theaters will go into operation only after thorough examination and precautionary measures are adopted to ensure hygiene safety.
