‘Papa Kahte Hain’ a musical evening with Udit and Aditya Narayan

Indian Youth Society-Kuwait,established by the initiative of a group of young Indians with the purpose of creating awareness of Indian Culture in Kuwaitis organizing a musical night called ‘Papa KahteHain’, on Friday, 26th September, 2014 at the American International School inMaidanHawalli.

The musical night, whichwill showcase the rich vocal talents of the father-son duo of Udit Narayan and Aditya Narayan, promises to be an enthralling performance for fans of the two versatile singers.

Udit Narayan, the multi-talented Indian playback singer, regarded by many as one of the most popular male vocalist in Indian cinema, is recognized for his distinctive voice and original singing style. Despite a playback singing repertoire that has over the years spanned numerous films and many different languages, heis still best known for his song "Papa Kehte Hain" from the movie Qayamat Se QayamatTak,which earned him instant stardom as well as a Film fare award for Best Male Vocalist.

He solidified his newfound reputation with a number of hits, and sang for many of India's major music directors, and dubbed songs for many famous actors. Mr.Narayan won his second Film fare award for the song ‘Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna’ from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge and a third award the following year for ‘Pardesi Pardesi’ from Raja Hindustani. Among his most notable achievements in the late '90s, Narayan recorded with the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar for the film Dil To PagalHai, scored some of his biggest hits from the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and won a fourth Film fare award for "Chaand Chupa" (from Hum Dil De ChukeSanam). Additionally, Narayan encouraged his young son Aditya in his rise to stardom as an in-demand film vocalist, dubbing song parts for child actors.

Aditya Narayan, a well-known singer in his own right, is alsoan accomplished music composer turned TV host and actor. He started his career at the age of five and developed into a popular child artist, appearing in a number of hit films like Ram GopalVarma’s ‘Rangeela’, SubhashGhai’s ‘Pardes’ and Deepak Sareen’s ‘Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai’. His repertoire of playback singing includes films like ‘Papa the Great’, ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’, ‘Taal’, ‘Pardes’ and ‘Ghoonghat’. He has worked with veteran singers like Asha Bhonsle and the Oscar winning composer A.R.Rehman.

Aditya gained further popularity by hosting the popular reality singing show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’. Aside from his role as a successful reality show host, the singer accompanied his famous father on a musical world tour to the USA, Canada andWest Indies. The world tour was a huge success, casting Aditya in the limelight of the global entertainment industry.

This multi-talented and dynamic entertainer has many awards to his credit such as the Global Indian Television Award for Face of The Year, ITA New Talent Award for Best New Anchor, Lions Gold Award for Best Anchor of a Television Program and Glamour Star of the Year 2008. Besides acting in films he has also lent his star vocals to a Nepali film titled ‘Kusume Rumal’ that featured his father, Udit Narayan.
